Here's some interesting news. The sinking (on purpose) of the USS Oriskany, an aircraft carrier. She served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

The links below give you a history of the ship and also photos of the sinking off the coast of Florida.

Thanks James Hennessey for the update.

Its sad to see such military power go under the water on purpose. My father served on the USS Ranger in Vietnam. Now they want to scrap her too. There is an association to try and make her into a museum. That what they should with all those big ships. But I am sure money is a huge factor. Here is a link to the USS Ranger Association.

I guess the tremendous volume of all of us has caused the web page overload and it has to be moved.

I don't like stuff like this, I'm a preservationist at heart. I realize that we can't keep EVERYTHING, but I'm still saddened when I see things destroyed, especially things that people worked so hard to build. Be it ships, buildings, houses, or whatever.

Thanks for posting that Kyle. Just went to the Ranger site. She sure is a beauty.

Thanks Marion,

I agree with Brooke, it is sad we cant preserve them all... I would like to visit the Ranger. Hope I have the chance..
