I am slowly but surely putting together a history of my grandfather's military service. I am doing a section on what his uniform and equipment would have most likely consisted of. One thing I lack is a good photo of a late war (March '45) uniform actually on a person (or mannequin.) I have asked on some of the reenactor sites, but to no avail.
Anybody have a good photo that I can use? I would give full credit to the contributer.
Let me know if you can help.
Milsurp: Do you mean the usual combat clothing and gear or Class A uniforms?
For you Reenactors: If interested I have quite a few of the 6 pocket cloth M-1 bandoleers. About 5 lbs of them. Just pay the actual cost of shipping. Time was when
CMP and DCM sold M-1 ammo in clipped and bandoleered case lots.. We appreciate the job these Reenactors are doing to bring up history. If these run out I believe I can
scout up many more bandoleers.
Yes, please let us know what you need as I may be able to help out. I have a complete Class from late 45 (Ike jacket) Also could get a combat setup if need be with the double buckle boots.
Thanks for the replies. I am looking for the combat set up, late war March '45 and on.
I am looking for a good front shot and a back shot. Anything would be better than what I have now.
If I am correct in my assumptions, and going off what few 76th division photos there are, I believe that the M43 jacket and wool trousers were used. Also, the double buckle boots.
Let me know what you can do, and again, I really appreciate the help.
Try this photo sent to me by Al Kincer. Thanks Al.
