Ah, I knew better than to call him Mr Heffron and I wouldn't even call him by his first name. That would be disrepectful. :pdt12: He will always be the THE BABE!

:pdt34:

Movies have been made about,, Pvt. Ryan--Blackhawk down--D-Day-Band of

Bros.--Iwo Jima,, Maybe some day one will be made of Cassino the town and Cassino the Monastary, or how about Anzio. If one is made I hope I am alive to see it.

Actually there WAS a movie made about Anzio 1968 with Robert Mitchum and Peter Falk amongst others

Somebody still needs to make a good movie about Anzio...I love Robert Mitchum, but that movie is really BAD.

Yes, I too would love to see a really good modern day movie about Anzio too!

I think that John Ford's "The Battle of San Pietro shows the crossing of the Rapido River near Cassino. It has some of the best action scenes !

Several of "my vets" have mentioned that movie too. Will have to find some time to watch it in the near future.

I have a DVD collection that features a section on the Battle of San Pietro. I had never heard of the place before this, but sounds like it was a pretty tough fight for both soldiers and civilians. Is the John Ford film you are referring to an actual movie (ala Hollywood stars) or a Documentary?
