I am still giggling over this one. Where in the world do you find these things. I love them all, but especially
"My wife's uncle knew someone who served in WWII" ribbon
and
"Never earned a ribbon" ribbon

Oh ya. I could hand a few of those out at my market!
Sooner or Later we all have to admit we are done for:-
Thank God they put me out to pasture instead of this fate!!
(PS I was not that fat at the end of the road either)

Like the sarge, ribbons, ribbons. Damn few mean much. In the past 15 years I just give up on knowing what a chestulll of ribbons means. Attended class most of the time ribbon, never late much for reville ribbon, re enlistment bonus ribbon and God knows only what ribbon. Ribbon makers must be making a fortune.. Bad enough when they
came out with the Good Conduct Ribbon but this is carring things a bit far as of lately. One needs a complete scorecard.
I may have told this before and if I did please bear with me.
My bother, a Navy Lifer, participated in the Invasion of North Africa,
Sicily and Italy and then their ship was sent back to Brooklyn, NY Navy
Yard for some repairs etc.
Before they left the ship, they were issued the appropriate ribbons for
this action. As they were walking through the Navy Yard, they saw some
real young guys wearing the same ribbons and they knew Damn Right
Well they were not a part of the Destroyer Squadron so they asked
them where they got the ribbons. The youngs guys said all you have to do
is go up to the Ships Stores(PX) and buy them!!!
Another Lifer,a Gunners Mate ripped the ribbons off one guys shirt and then
pushed him off the pier. Knowing the guy in the water could climb onto a nearby
raft the guys from my bother's ship kept on walking up to their favorite bar. Until
they left about a week later there were no more ribbons around
