I am writing because I would like to know more about my Grandfather Irvin O. Haugen. He was in Company B of the 326th AEB, and I believe he might be in the picture on your website at the link http://www.6thcorpscombatengineers.com/CharlesWilber.htm

 

Here is all the info that I know about my Grandfater:

 

Irvin O. Haugen

Acted as Squad Leader of Paratrooper Engineer Squad

 

Lead Squad in Combat under fire

 

In Holland and Germany

 

Company B 326th Engineer

 

Supervised and assisted squad to remove obstacles

 

Placed Demolition and traps for enemies

 

made way Cleared ways for Allies to enter areas Served in this capacity for twenty months

 

2/44 - 11/45 was his tour of duty

 

Fort Benning, GA was where his paratrooper training was

 

discharged 718th railway operations battalion

 

fought in ardennes, rhineland, central europe

medals:

 

european / african / middle eastern service medal

good conduct medal

victory medal

distinguished unit badge

 

SGT. but discharged as PFC

 

2/21/44 - 3/5/44 - in Iceland

 

ANy help you could offer would be appreciated, along with maybe sending me a larger copy of that picture. I really appreciate it.

I'm afraid the images I have aren't very large (just took a peek). I'm sure you would have to contact Doug to get bigger images. But in the interim you can click on and download from that page okay?
