This is so Beautiful how you all pay tribute to such great men!

Thank you for sharing this!

Jean

Colin, thank you SO much for starting this tribute. I am so saddened by this news. Colin and I both had the pleasure of meeting Ira and his brother and their family.

Margi is a good friend to both of us and I know she and her family are taking this very hard today. My heart goes out to everyone.

One photo is of Margi and her dad. One with all the vets who attended in 2012 and the other of Margi, her dad and his brother, also a WWII veteran.

Some other great photos...

And of course, my favorite photo, for I am sitting on Ira's lap in this great group shot. This one adorns the wall of my office.

I'm glad to have met you, sir. Thank you for all that you did! Farewell.

Marion,

Due to my limited intelligence, I was not successful in logging on to the website provided. If you could possibly convey to the family our heartfelt condolences, it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully they will take comfort in a hymn I experienced as a child which took on more meaning after I put on a uniform.

"And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,

Steals on the ear the distant triumph song,

And hearts are brave again, and arms are strong,

Alleluia, alleluia.

The golden evening brightens in the west;

Soon, soon to faithful warriors cometh rest;

Sweet is the calm of paradise the blest,

Alleluia, alleluia."
