Dear forum members,

I am from Holland and have an interest in WW2 history, especially the soldiers who fought for our freedom.
Also I collect memorabilia from that era, items that were left behind. Recently I obtained a .30 ammo box that was personalized with the following information: Robert Lanman, 149th Engr, Co C.
Probably he used it for keeping his personal stuff dry, or maybe his equipment.
I am trying to find his whereabouts, especially his ASN. Hopefully there exists a roster, morning report or something alike from this particular unit....and maybe a member can help. A long shot, but worth the try.

No information YEY on the 149th.

BUT,,,if you discover ANYTHNG at all about the 978th Engineer Maintenance Company, please let me know.  Wrote my Ph.D thesis about that Company.

Quartered in Speckholzerheide and Kerkgrade, Holland November 1944 to 30 November 1944 when the Company moved to Mariagrube Coal Mine (near Mariadorf) Germany.

Don't know if this will help you any or not but there are two Robert Lanmans listed in the online WWII Enlistment Records database.

One of these could be your man or maybe not, this database is not 100 % complete, there could be other Robert Lanmans. I do not know if there is a roster of this particular unit. Sounds like an interesting artifact you have there, you should think about posting a picture of it, we like pictures! Good luck with your search, hope you find your Robert Lanman.
