Thanks to Karen Culler and her brother, for bringing this great photo to my attention.
The super transport ship, General W.P. Richardson, docked in New York, with veterans of the European war cheering on June 7, 1945. Many soldiers were veterans of the African campaign, Salerno, Anzio, Cassino and the winter warfare in Italy's mountains. (AP Photo/Tony Camerano)
Received this letter a few weeks ago. Have gotten in touch with him, including sending him the contact info for my researcher, Carolyn.
Attached is a copy of the men who were named for a CIB.

I HAVE RECEIVED 3 BRONZE STARS AND SOME OTHER MEDALS BUT IT HAS TAKEN A YEAR TO GET THESE AND IT IS NOT RIGHT HOW THEY HAVE TREATED MY FATHER AS HE FOUGHT AND HELPED HIS UNIT IN A LOT OF WAYS. THE BRONZE STARS WERE SENT BY MAIL AND NOT WHILE HE WAS ALIVE, HE PASSED IN 2000.

Happy birthday to dear friend and WWII veteran, Jim Davis. God bless you and we hope to see you around the forum for many more years to come. A Happy New Year to you too!!!
My grandfather, Red Morton, was in this group during World War Two. I have been to 163rd.com but I am looking for more detailed info. I know it's a long shot, but I'd love to meet someone who knew him as he refused to talk about the war. I am taking a trip to Europe this summer and would love to visit some of the places he went. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. (email removed for privacy - if you need to contact him, members please reply here or via PM)
I've attached the only pic I have of him in uniform
