Marion,

I don't normally forward e-mails that I receive; however, I felt compelled to send this to you. I hope you have about 10 minutes to watch this video. I enjoyed the history. But, more than anything it made me once again be so very grateful to you for all the work you've done to record and preserve the history of the 540th Combat Engineers.

Regards,

Karen Culler

daughter of Paul L. McGee

Jimmy Doolittle's Grand Daughter Speaks

Thought you would enjoy if you have not seen this.

It's a speech by Doolittle's grand daughter.

She wrote a book about her grandfather called "Calculated Risk" which is a

good read. Note also she does this without notes and teleprompters

Simply outstanding....would he ever be proud of her......... as. we all are.

  Two Women in a Bar
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 03-05-2011, 11:28 PM - Forum: Jokes & Fun! - Replies (2)

Two Women in a Bar

Two women were sitting next to each other at a bar. After a

while, one looks at the other and says, 'I can't help but think, from

listening to you, that you're from Ireland .'

The other woman responds proudly, 'Yes, I sure am!'

The first one says, 'So am I! And where about in Ireland are ya from?'

The other woman answers, 'I'm from Dublin , I am.'

The first one responds, 'So, am I!! And what street did you

live on in Dublin ?'

The other woman says, 'A lovely little area. It was in the west

end. I lived on

Warbury Street in the old central part of town.'

The first one says, 'Faith, and it's a small world. So did I!

So did I! And what school did ya go to?'

The other woman answers, 'Well now, I went to Holy Heart of

Mary, of course.'

The first one gets really excited and says, 'And so did I! Tell

me, what year did you graduate?'

The other woman answers, 'Well, now, let's see. I graduated in 1964.'

The first woman exclaims, 'The Good Lord must be smiling down

upon us! I can hardly believe our good luck at winding up in the same

pub tonight! Can you believe it? I graduated from Holy Heart of Mary

in 1964 me self!'

About this time, Michael walks into the bar, sits down, and

orders a beer.

Brian, the bartender, walks over to Michael shaking his head

and mutters, It's going to be a long night tonight.'

Michael asks, 'Why do you say that, Brian?'

Brian answers, 'The Murphy twins are drunk again.'

  341st Engineer Regimental book
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 03-05-2011, 11:21 PM - Forum: WWII ENGINEERS - No Replies

You never know where your next tidbit will come from. This is proven over and over again.

While watching tv with hubby this evening, a call came in, and I decided to grab it before it went to voice-mail. So glad I did...

A gentleman named William Frake called to tell me about a 341st regimental book on Ebay. Said he saw my site and thought this might be of interest to me. Ah, that's for sure.

His father was a member of the 2nd Rangers. He has met many of the veterans and also lived in Europe for several years. He has a strong love for the history and the men, just as we do.

Well, as soon as I hung up the phone, I went to Ebay, saw it and bought it. Another great acquisition. Here's the link in case anyone would like a sneak peak.

341st Regimental book - 1946

William it was great meeting you via the phone this evening. I look forward to talking with you again, and yes, you can rest assured I will keep an eye open for any unusual items from the 2nd Rangers.

You made my night!

:waving:
