By way of introduction I am a decendant of Samuel A. Drake, pfc 803rd Engineer Aviation Battalion, Co A. My uncle was determined to be MIA on 6-May-1942 in the Phillipines. From the information I have gathered, talking with Joe Vater (member of the same company and a POW) and Clarence Campbell (author of the article "A Tribute to the 803rd Engineers") there is some concise information available from them. If anyone has roosters, citation information, etc. for the 803rd please share it with me. My mother is 93 and we are putting this information together for her, I have some information and citations from my grandmother (silver star, purple heart, asiatic campaign ribbon), Mr. Campbell related to me that Co. A was also, awarded the US Presidential Unit Citation (3 times-Co's B, C were awarded only once) and the Phillipine Presidential Unit Citation. The personnel at Military records said there was very little information on my uncle due to a fire, however I was instructed by one of the above gentlemen to obtain a Privacy Act Release Form from my congressman and they will request information on my behalf. So making a short story long, if anyone has information on the 803rd please reply.

Last weekend I attended at the Memorial Day ceremonies in Henri-Chapelle (Saturday) and Margraten (Sunday). The weather conditions on Saturday were fine but on unday a lot of people got soaked and the fly-over was cancelled. I was walking over the cemeteries and for some reason I am always looking to the units.
I spotted (for me) some strange units but maybe you'll know more about them or you'll be interested in one of them. Below you can see the pictures.
Truman Kimbro CMOH.

A friend of mine adopted this grave but wasn't able to find a thing about him. Can someone please help us with it? I have never heard about this unit.

Now some pictures are coming and I can't say anything about them ... watch some dates on the crosses. Some men died in August 1945.

That's all. I hope some of you will see or even find ome interesting stuff or so. I am not a technician myself but I would like to share this with you.
Regards,
Frank

Greetings,
I'm a new member researching my father's war experience in Italy, February-Sept. 1944.
Pvt. John Wack was a member of Co. A, 39th Combat Engineers, and was deployed at Anzio, Piombino, Rome, and the Arno crossing at Florence. He was wounded Sept. 11, 1944 just north of Florence while sweeping mines.
He left a few photos that I will post when they are all scanned. I'm hoping that folks might be able to help me identify "Platoon doc" in August 1944; "Fred"; and "The Three Poles" (looks like Myk-Morzatch-Kowalzek). The latter photo was taken by "Lee" near Pisa by the Arno, while training for a river crossing.
Thanks for your help--what a great site!
Mary Wack

Hello everyone, I'm the admin/designer/only guy at www.campclaiborne.org.
Just wanted to pop my head in and say hello. My research is focused on my Grandfathers unit the 393rd Special Services Engineer Regiment
I have alot of engineer related material on my site and much more that I've yet to find time to post.
Feel free to poke around and drop me a line, as I'm always looking to expand and assist.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
