Farewell Gene Fiducia - 631st Eng Light Equip Co
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 03-17-2010, 08:23 AM - Forum: Announcements, Get Well Wishes & Farewells - No Replies

It is with sadness I tell of the passing of Gene Fiducia who died on December 3rd 2009. Gene was a long time friend and a member of the 631st Engineer Light Equipment Co. Please take a moment to look at this page, and pay tribute to him.

I and several others became concerned when our correspondence went unanswered. I kept up my hope for the email didn't bounce, but...

Condolences to his family and friends.

Gene and I met in 2004, and therefore was one of the first engineers I began corresponding with. Sure glad we met. Thanks for the memories ol' pal...

  207th Engineer Combat Battalion
Posted by: Jacques - 03-16-2010, 01:57 PM - Forum: WWII ENGINEERS - Replies (20)

I'm looking for information on the 207th Combat Engineer Bn during WWII. My dad and his best friend both served in this unit (both now deceased). They were involved in construction of the Hodges Bridge and for several months I've attempted to piece together the 207th path across Europe. I do have the Hodges Bridge booklet and a map which tracked some of the trek. This is an effort to pass on my father's service to his country to my brothers, kids and grandkids. History is fleeting and unless it is recorded in a timely fashion, it is often lost forever. I have been in contact with Gene Fiducia's daughter and she has been very helpful. If there are other sources of help, I would like to hear about them. Particularly, if there are any former members of this outfit still around, their input would be greatly valued.

  A birthday surprise
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 03-12-2010, 11:25 AM - Forum: Great Tunes from WWII - No Replies

Received this letter this week.

===========

This is the most beautiful site I have visited! My father, soon to be 85, was with the Merrill's Marauders, and one of the fortunate ones to make it home. In celebration of his 85th Birthday, I am looking for two songs that he and some of his comrades use to sing.

1. A soldiers Last Letter

2. All Go Home But One

This will be a "special" surprise to him as I will be singing it :-) If you have any information in regards as to where or how I can obtain this music and the lyrics, please let me know :-)

Thanks again for this beautiful site of memories!

Dear Wendi:

Sorry for the delay, but our best friend died this past week, and things have been in a state of chaos. It was sudden and unexpected and took both of us for a spin. Things are settling down now and I am trying to play catch-up with the log of email.

Glad you are enjoying the site, but I don't have those songs in my repertoire. However, upon doing a Google search, came up with many topics, which include the lyrics, etc.

I did find this one too:

I hope that helps you, and please write back and let me know what transpires.

Warmly,

Marion
