Where were you or your family? - Pearl Harbor
Posted by: civilwargal - 06-26-2009, 07:24 PM - Forum: ANYTHING WWII - Replies (12)

One of the things I like to ask "experienced" people when I meet them is "Where were you when you heard about Pearl Harbor" I would love to hear fellow members experiences or family members experiences of war. (It will be interesting to hear from our European members what their families talked about when they heard the news of the invasion of Poland, or the blitz or the landings on Sicily)

My mother and her family were listening to a football game on the radio when they announced that Pearl had been attacked. At first they thought it was

a bad joke.

This little Dutch trooper came upto me in Normandy, asking question and jumping onto my bed in my pup tent, this is what reenacting is all about.... passing on the 'Veteran's Beacon' to the next generation.. :armata_PDT_37:

  Good news to share
Posted by: Brenda - 06-22-2009, 11:42 AM - Forum: WWII ENGINEERS - Replies (1)

I just wanted to share some good news I received the other day. The NPRC has reissued a few of my grandfathers medals for me. I've been doing so much research that I almost forgot about the request all together. They claimed these were the only ones they could authorize using official documents. They were the WWII Victory Medal and his Honorable Service Lapel Button. This is great news! I have collected other paperwork during my research that states he did receive other medals and will now work on those but I wanted to share this news with everyone.
