I thought some of you might be interested in this as well. A little documentary about George Schneider of the 30th Infantry Division. He is from Akron, OH. George is still alve and in a very good condition.

Regards,

Hey gang, if you have written to me in the last few weeks and I haven't answered, it's because I am swamped right now and busy as a bee.

Things will slow down for me after the Music in the Park event for Alger Parks and Rec. I am chairperson and our big event is coming up this Saturday, so that is my FIRST priority! It is our biggest event of the year.

So please do not feel abandoned. :-)

Updated version - Engineer History - Mediterranean Theater - Fifth Army
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 08-17-2016, 12:01 PM - Forum: VI CORPS AND 5TH & 7TH ARMIES - No Replies

Many thanks to Andrea Gatti, one of our forum members from Italy. He sent me an updated version of a file I had on our website, for the original was missing pages, etc. You did a great job and I am pleased to say it's now uploaded and can be found here. The summaries are a fantastic edition, for it allows our readers to see what units are included. Bravo!

Engineer History - Mediterranean Theater - Fifth Army - updated 8-17-2016

This document, along with many others, is located on our VI Corps Links page on the main site.

Remembering Aug 15, 1944 - The invasion of southern France
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 08-15-2016, 09:03 AM - Forum: VI CORPS AND 5TH & 7TH ARMIES - Replies (5)

Let us pay homage to all the men and women who took part in Operation Dragoon, the invasion of southern France, that took place on this day, August 15, 1944. Let us remember their sacrifices and all they did to bring freedom back to the world.

If your loved ones took part in this, please list their names below. So many people remember Normandy, but too few pay tribute to, or even remember August 15th!

Here's to my father and the 540th Combat Engineers!
