Posting this here as a courtesy for one of our new members this week, Red Rover. Don't worry, it sometimes takes a bit to get acclimated to a forum and how it works.

This is my first post and I am not a computer guru. I am 64 yrs. old and not in very good health. In later yrs. I have been trying to find out more information about my dad who served in the 351 Engineer Gen Ser Regiment in Europe. I was born during WW2 and adopted out after the war. I am trying to find out anything I can about my real dad and what he did in the war. It is about closure and who I am a part of. I have really learned a lot in the last few months and would like to know more if anyone out there was a part of the same unit or know of the 351st. I know they had the following campaigns: Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes-Alsace. They were in France and Luxembourg during the "Battle of the Bulge." Thanks.

We have a very good HELP SECTION too on how to post, reply, etc.
I'm looking for information regarding the 2756th ECS during WWII. This was the my dad's, Norman Stobaugh, unit when he was discharged in August of 1945. He once told me many years ago that this unit had changed names several times during the course of the war but of course I didn't write them down and now it's too late. I'm interested in anything that anyone may have. My Dad would not talk much about anything that he experienced during the war so any information I have is very sketchy.
I've searched this site and found some interesting references that may or may not fit. I just can't be sure. Maybe I'm just overwhelmed by all the information found. It just seems it would be a simple matter to simply backtrack from his ending unit through all of it's name changes during the course of the war but obviously nothing is that easy.
I know he was involved in the invasion of North Africa at the port of Oran. From the copy of his Form 53-55 I received from the Army, I know that he was involved in the following battles/campaigns..."Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Central Europe, Rhineland and North Apennines. *Rome-Arno"
From his uniform patches I know at some point he was in the 6th Corps and finally the 7th Army.
I've contacted the Army records center in St. Louis in an attempt to get copies of his file and of course I received the form letter advising me that his records were destroyed in the fire they had several years ago. Sigh....
Any information at all will be greatly appreciated.
My name is Kelli ,I did not know my grandfather he died before I was born. I have a book that my grandfather wrote in . While serving in the war. I also have pictures I do not know if any of you are interested. He was part of the 36th engineer , he was born I Arkansas .When he was in WW11 he was married to my grandmother Gene. I hope this enough information to jog some of your memories. I have been doing research on my family history and I would love any information................Kelli
I recently found this picture of the SS Lavaca, one of the Victory ships my Dad served on as a Navy 'Armed Guard' during the war. Not a sleek Battleship or a "sexy" Aircraft carrier, but the real work horses of WWII, carrying Invasion Troops & equipment to the Pacific and Atlantic war fronts both. In my garage is a 4' long wooden replica of these ships in painstaking detail which he built years ago, while recovering from a surgery. I recently found a website where you can post messages and look for any living shipmates, but so far no luck. I should have started the search 15 or 20 years ago, as they are now leaving us at a rate of 1200 per day, a fact which depresses me greatly.

Recently heard from a gentleman named Don Shearer, whose father Dale (still living), was a member of the 202nd Engineers. We spoke on the phone for almost an hour and I promised he and his dad I would find out all I could about the unit.
I am posting everything I have found so far, and will post further information when I scan pages from my engineer's book later this morning.
The following person wants to get in touch with members of the 202nd: (this was a guestbook entry)

Requests/Comments/Answers: My father (same name) was part of the 202nd Engineer Combat Battalion Co C. I would like to get in contact with anyone form this co. or anyone with information about them. My father died in 1974 when I was 5 so I did not get to talk to him about WW II. Thank you

You should also contact the Army Corps Engineers, Office of History. Please ask for Michael Brodhead. Any other of the historians will be able to help you too. Ask them for any info they have on the 202nd Engineers.
As with everyone else. I highly recommend people check out my research section for further suggestions on how to find information regarding WWII units.
