researching family soldiers WWII - sixgun - 09-01-2006 hello, My name is veronique , i live in France , i am a member of the association of the memory flowers, i adopted 13 graves of american soldiers and put flowers on their graves on every year, at the cemetery of colleville sur mer. I would be grateful to get information about the soldiers : Robert Thomas, J.S.Willis, Robert E De Luca,Donald J Mallard,Vincent G Lord, I would like to know their ages, the missions they had during the war, get a pictures because, each year, I put flowers on their graves and i would so much like to put a face on their names. I look for the existing relatives to inform them that their graves is respectfully and that their memory kept alive. I would be grateful , if you are one of them or if you know someone of their family. If you give me more information about them because they died to save our country...
I'm proud to honor their memory. because we cannot forget them . They gave their life for our liberty.

Thank you very much for your help researching family soldiers WWII - Custermen - 09-01-2006 Welcome, Veronique. Sounds like you are really dedicated to remembering these Americans. It should help to know their units and these men served in some units that are not usually mentioned in the history books. I hope we help you find out more about these Americans. I'm interested to see what you can find out about these soldiers as I have visited the American Cemetery several years ago.

If you check my profile you will see my last name which shows my French name. 3rd generation American though. (Other half is Irish). I am in contact with a French person who runs a re inactment group of my outfit in WW 2 concerning the 3rd Inf Div.. First thank you , I wanted to say to you that I correspond regularly with the families of 5 my godsons for my biggest Happiness!! This happiness, i owes it to numerous persons in the USA . Who my help in my researches. I their would always be grateful for it !!!

Marvin was 21 years old when he was killed when the jeep that he drives jumped on a shell. Nick 23 years old he was killed to St Lô´, Leo 39(on the left of the picture) he died save the life from it of one fellow. Harold 21 years he had a horrible death, he died burned lively. When his plane it's crushed on the ground. Jack 28 years old died by falling through an open hatch on a ship. They were unloading a ship and he was walking backwards and fell through an open hatch. He died of a concussion . After so many researches, i can finally put a face on their names and i know now a little bit more about their short lives, lost for our liberty!! I always continue my researches, for my 5 others godsons to find also their families and to also able to have a pictures. veronique
