Ban on Sex for Soldiers in Afghanistan Lifted - CaptO - 05-30-2008 As I got to Iraq in '04, that was one of the first rules posted when you got the "welcome to Iraq" brief. I'd like to say that it stopped that sort of behavior but I can report that it did not. You've heard of "Beer Goggles" well that's nothing compared to what happens to one is overseas for 7-13 months (I know you WWII guys are thinking, "just 7-13 months!?"). One of the more humorous things I've ever seen written on a toilet stall wall was "I feel sorry for all of the females that are going to rotate back to the states and be ugly again." Rude I know, but lots of homely soldiers and Marines were getting a lot attention over seas. Most of it was just from guys who wanted to look at something other than another guy (the way guys saw nurses during WWII) but were the females not inhibited. . . From a leadership point of view, it would have been much easier to have no females such as during previous wars, but that seems to be a thing of the past. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say women don't have a place in the military (I've stirred the puddin' enough around here lately!) but it would be easier to not have to deal with Iraqi-deployment-romance. Fortunately, none of them got preggers and had to be sent home, but that is far from uncommon. Writing on what you call " toilet stall wall", we had another, can't write it. s----h----wall. WE only wrote, (me included), KILROY WAS HERE !). Only time we saw nurses wuz in a hospital.
CaptO--Our situation and ERA,there is no comparison with todays' generation and situation.--------Ban on Sex for Soldiers,Lifted !!!!!Damn-I guess G Is' now are hot to trot. Rocky
