150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg - civilwargal - 07-03-2013

Today is the third day and it is the anniversary of Picketts charge. They were commenting in an article how big the crowds are for this week. Ranger talks that usually draw 50 people now have 500 people attending. Warms my heart. Walking Picketts charge was one of the most moving moments of my life. (Even though our guide, an 80 year old former Marine, had to chase away a ?rabid woodchuck with his swagger stick) You cannot walk that area without thinking about the soldiers moving over that ground.

That is good to hear. I worry that WWII is fading into the distance as far as the US Memory goes. If there can be a surge in interest of the Civil War (albeit of its most famous battle) then there is at least a glimmer of hope.
