Runners interrupt race to thank WWII Vet - Walt's Daughter - 03-04-2014 While the 408k road race benefitting the Pat Tillman Foundation was winding its way through a San Jose neighborhood, runners saw 95-year-old World War II veteran Joe Bell watching the event while dressed in full uniform. That’s when a number of competitors made a beeline for the veteran to offer their thanks, making for an impromptu receiving line. The touching scene was captured by Julia Prodis Sulek of the San Jose Mercury News.
