Robert S. Williams Co.C/ 2828th Eng. - rollsballs - 03-08-2014 I am looking for any one who might have fought with my father. He was a general mechanic/rifle marksman who was in company C of the 2828th engineers. He was 18 when he entered the war. He spent 12 weeks in New York City (1943) in an electrical course before being shipped to North Africa. He went on to Naples,Foggia,Rome, the Arno, Southern France and the Rhineland. He was in Anzio in a fox hole for over a month. He was in the beach landing in Southern France. Mark Clark was his commanding General and he ended up in occupied Germany until his discharge in December of 1945. His nickname was "the Chief" because he liked to make a decision when no one else wanted too and he also went by the nickmane "Bobby". I am his daughter and would be honored to meet anyone who knew him. Robert S. Williams Co.C/ 2828th Eng. - Walt's Daughter - 03-08-2014 Hey Leah:
Great to talk with you via email and here. As you know, I've added your name to my 36th Engineer Email Mailing List. This way we can all stay in touch with the latest and the greatest.
Thanks for posting your father's pic and for the background on his service. |
