The experience is so real that you’ll find yourself ducking as enemy fighters zip by mere feet from the nose of your plane. Your hair is literally blown back when the bomb doors open.

 

And then it’s time to strap on a parachute and board an authentic B-17 aircraft for a real flight. Fully immersed in 1944 you’re living the day of a real B-17 flyer. Your adrenaline is guaranteed to rush as you take off for your bombing run. The sights, sounds and even the smells of this extended flight make this a once in a lifetime adventure.

Its historical data:

The Memphis Belle, is a B-17F-10-BO Flying Fortress with the serial number: 41-24485. It was part of the unit 24th Bomb Squadron (H), 91st Bomb Group (H), 1st Combat Wing, 1st Air Division, 8th Bomber Command. Its land base was Bassingbourn, England.

 

His story:

The Memphis Belle is the name of a bomber B-17 'Flying Fortress' from the Second World War, whose many films and stories recount the exploits. This was the first plane, and the first crew to successfully complete 25 missions, meaning at the time a return ticket to the United States. This device is now kept at Memphis

Hell's Angels and the beautiful Menphis have completed their 25 missions.

 

but the "Hell's Angels" who finished, albeit a few days before his first round 25 missions.

I've flown in a lot of different aicraft since joining the RAF in 1955, but I think a lottery ticket is the nearest I'll

ever come to a B17 flight M1!

Hubby and I were talking about this the other night at the pub. Kept saying it's too bad we can't do this, since in most likelihood, we will be in Georgia around the same time, viisting with our daughter. That's about as close as we will get too. Sigh! Bring me my drool cup! You want me to get you one too?
