Marion,
It is with a sad heart that I inform you of my Dad's (Vincent P. Pankoke Sr.) passing on August 25 in his home of Johnstown, PA at the age of 87. He was in the 36th 3rd Bat, I company from 1942-1945. He was a replacement to the 36th and joined up with them in North Africa. He passed on to me many vivid memories of the Anzio campaign and the invasion of Southern France. I just found an old yellowed teletype of his Bronze star write up from Jan 19, 1945, from Baerenthal, France signed by Major General Frederick. Your web site and the daily reports helped me research this day of his life. For that I am very grateful.
I was really trying to get him well enough for a visit to this years reunion. I will try to get some of his photos scanned and sent to you to share with the other 36ers.
Vince Pankoke Jr.

Dear Vince:
So very sorry to hear of your recent loss. I was really looking forward to meeting him, but alas, it was not to be.
