I want to get my impression as accurate as possible so as to pay respect to those that did there job and still do there job

I can help you with this, since I was in direct contact with the 326th. I attended a reunion here in Michigan a few years back.

Marion I have spent a lot of the morning looking through all the information etc on this request and found it very interesting. It is always good to be able to find units like this one mentioned in our 'bible'! One thing I'd like to ask is, does the US Government hold a full list of all Combat Engineers awarded the CIB? It seems to come up regularly in people seeking research information on relatives.

No, I don't think there is an OFFICIAL LIST! At least no one I know has come across one during our research. Wouldn't it be nice it there was one.

We still have people arguing that NO combat engineer was ever awarded this, even though I have official records from the 540th showing they were. People still dispute it. Sad, isn't it?

I have been reading through the infomation on hear and watching some more videos, getting a lot of usful info thank you, hopping to come across an equipment list for what the combat engineers carried with them on D-Day as having the right kit will that extra toch to the impression even if it is only seen by myself and not the public when at shows. also looking through publications from hear and else were to find out if they put sertain kit in sertain pockets or pouchs on there webbing

I have an entire page dedicated to re-enactors on the main site. Many have complete lists of equipment, etc. and I'm sure you will find this very useful. Let me know what transpires. Again, happy to assist.

One of the sites you will find, is D-Day Conneaut. My husband and I attended the event last year, and they did a re-enactment of the Normandy landings, complete with LST's. They would be a great source of information.
