According to VA data:

In 2003, there were 4,370,000 living WWII veterans.

In 2003, the median age of WWII veterans was 80.1 years; there were

1,946,000 under age 80; 1,689,000 age 80 to 84; 607,000 age 85 to 89;

113,000 age 90 to 94; and 15,000 age 95 and over.

Talk to a vet today. Don't hesitate because time waits for no one. :unsure:

These aare my numbers: The US had 16 million in service during Ww2 12.5 million at any one time.

By the time the 50th Anniversary there were 9.5 million lliving ww2 vets.

By the 60th anniversary years there were 4.5 million living.

So in the 50 years after WW2 about 25% were in their last Repose.

Between the 50th and 60th year 60th year 50% more went to their last Repose.

Now there are 1 of 4 remaining to their story.

Time is running out, when the ww2 vet first came home he wanted to get back into a n ormal life. Most did not want to hear war stories. So he kept them to himself.

Show a little interest, don,t press for the whole story at one time. Give him a chance to recall his story. Get it written down or taped and keep asking for just a little more.

Every man and woman has one to tell.

Amen to that Paul. As you know, I am all ears and each day all of you tell me a bit more. I am forever grateful and so glad that so many of you are ready to tell me your side of the story.

Bless you! -o-

Marion's note: The further replies were moved and we created a new topic called: Day to Day Life Overseas. It is still under the same heading, Anything WWII.
