235th Combat Engineers
#1

My father was wondering if anyone served with the 235th Combat engineers. He was in Company B and served in North Africa, made the invasion at Salerno, was at the Rapido River and was wounded at Cassino. Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

George

Hi George. Delighted to see your first post.

For everyone who is reading this, the 235th and the 48th were the two battalions of the 1108th regiment (group).

Could you please give us your dad's full name. This will also enable me to pass along the information to the gang through my email channels. I will also share the info with Max Jonah who is printing the other Newsletter that will be out within the next couple of months.

As soon as I have that info, I will send it off to the others and I'm sure you will hear from them. :clappin:

I just sent out an email to the 1108th Group. You will also receive a copy since your name is included now.

I'm sure you will also receive the official 1108th Newsletter which Max will be mailing later this winter. Let us know what happens.

Oh, we are trying to plan a reunion in Washington DC this year. It's in the works. The last two years we've met here in Michigan. That was real convenient for me. :armata_PDT_01:

George,

My father, Roy A. Sarff, served there with the 235th. I am not sure with which Company though. He did land in North Africa, was in Salerno and Cassino.

Unfortunately he just passed away on June 10th. If there is anything that I may be able to assist you with, please let me know.

Thanks

Brian Sarff

Dear Brian:

Please accept my condolences regarding your dear father. I was very saddened to hear your news this morning.

Let's make sure we keep in touch with each other.

I also received your email too, and thank you for the offer for assistance with the documentary. Yes, I will take you up on your offer for the voice-overs, and I will get back with you as soon as I resume work on my project later this month.
