I too have made the comparison between the way the Japs treated Allied POWS and the way the Wehrmacht treated the Russian POWS. I think it would be safe to say that in both cases these sadistic actions were committed with the full knowledge and support of their superior officers. It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to understand why so many former Allied POWS have nothing good to say about their Japanese captors.
