Farewell John Ivancik - 36th Combat Engineer
#1

Today it is with sadness, I say goodbye to a dear friend and SEAHORSE - John Ivancik

I had the chance to meet John at three Seahorse Reunions, but last year he did not attend. Today I picked up my copy of the Anzio Beachhead Veterans Newsletter and saw his name at the top of the Deceased Members Column

John Ivancik

Ambridge, PA

36th Engrs

John was always a very quiet fellow, and always brought his Anzio Beachhead merchandise to the reunions. Hats and pins and patches, etc. He had a very good heart, but because he was so quiet, never got to know him as well as my other seahorses. Nonetheless, he shall be missed by me and by his brother Seahorses, the 36th Engineers.

Am including two photos; a group shot, and one of John with his merchandise at the table. Something he always loved. I am sure he will also be missed by the Anzio Beachhead boys too.

In the group photo, he is top row, second from the left, in between John Zappitello and Carl Furtado.

RIP!

With regret,

Marion

Received the following in the mail today. It was a letter from John's daughter.

Dear Mrs Chard

Thank you for the Xmas card to my dad, John Ivancik. But I am the bearer of bad news; my dad passed away on December 17, 2008. Was very sudden, he never complained about being sick, but went to the Emergency Room, 12-16, after having a chest x-ray showed he had pneumonia. He was admitted to CCW Tuesday afternoon and passed away Wednesday, 12-17 @ 3 AM. At least he didn't suffer.

I just wanted to let you know of his passing.

Sincerely,

Cindy Morrow

Thank you so much for posting your condolences. It sometimes feels as though "silly" topics get way more hits and replies, than goodbyes to our vets. :tearyeyed:
