Commemorative Air Force B-17 Tour
#1

I just discovered that the restored WWII B-17 named Sentimental Journey will be making a stop here in Yakima, Washington at the end of July/early August. I will definately be there with my camera for that. Still undecided about whether or not I can afford to plop down the $425.00 for the 30 minute flight or not, but it would be something I'm sure I would never forget. :armata_PDT_01:

I went to see the B-17 when it was in Kalamazoo a few years ago. Might have been the same one. Got to go inside the plane but didnt take the flight. It sure is alot smaller than one thinks it is. Just standing on the field and watching that plane slowly lumbering down the runway and lifting off while thinking of those planes heading out on missions gave me goosebumps, and a whole lot more respect for the men who flew them into battle.

:armata_PDT_01: In 2002 I got the fortune to see a B17 flying and in the static at the Air Tattoo at Fairford airbase in England it was marked Memphis belle on her right side and Sally B on her left, it's one of the plane's from the movie Memphis Belle.

If you have the chance to see one take it who know's when ever you get the opportunity to see one again :armata_PDT_23:

By the way I'm going to England next week to the Airtattoo again

We have in our collection a great photo of the Memphis Belle with her crew, and it is signed by the pilot. I promise to take a photo of it and upload it to the site later.

Here's a link to the Memphis Belle Memorial Association:

Take the B-17 ride, I took it a year ago. you will spend the money for the ride on something else, but you will naver regret this. I took it with Chuck Gray, at Willow Run. you can walk any place on the bomber. one fello3 sat in the bombdeer seat, and I could hear him go hisss and then boom, perfect hit on a cow. I also took the AT-6 Texan flight.
