Who is "We"?

President Barack Obama said in Turkey : "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."

I found this very interesting. Do you know the Preamble for your state?

Be sure to read the message at the bottom!

(Please note that at no time is anyone told that they MUST worship God.)

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Superb topic! If the forefathers came back to life today and were put in one room, would the STUPID ACLU walk into the room and tell them they were ALL wrong? If the ACLU existed in 1776, then the constitution as we know it WOULD NOT EXIST!

My point to everyone who argues with me about separation of church and state is very, very simple; if our founding fathers prayed in the constitution halls, how can it be wrong now? Do you not think they didn't know they own minds?

The very things they are trying to outlaw now, were going on in the 18th century. Doesn't that make a light bulb go off in your heads????? Obviously if our founding fathers thought all these things were illegal, they wouldn't have allowed it.

No, it's only simpletons who are alive today who try to bastardize the principals laid down three centuries ago. It's not difficult people. READ YOUR HISTORY. :armata_PDT_19:

Well said, Rocky and Marion. For the record the "separation of church and state" is a fabrication. The first amendment declares that: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. . . It is the Establishment Clause not the separation clause. I could perhaps see the logic of someone saying, "If you place statues depicting the birth of Christ on government property, you are elevating one religion above others." I can see where they could argue that but I don't agree. no religion is being made obligatory nor is anyone else's religious worship being curtailed. How you go from that argument to there will be no acknowledgment of God in any public discourse I don't get. You want to be atheist, go right on ahead, but don't force your atheism on the majority.

And on that same note... What is up with communities giving in to "one-person complaints"? Since when did this become the acceptable norm?

How many times have we turned on the tv or radio and been informed how one person has lodged a complaint against schools, churches or other local communities, and in turn said school, church, etc., has immediately cow-towed to this individual? When did we turn into a frightened and placating herd? This needs to change.

You wanna file a complaint? Fine. You want to state an opinion? Fine. But do not expect to be bowed to just because you don't agree with something in your community. Last time I looked, it was still a representative democracy and the majority still ruled!

America, wake up and scream out, "We are not going to take this anymore!"

Democracy is 3 wolves and 1 sheep deciding what is for dinner. The founders were afraid of democracies because of how easily the public can be swayed. That is why we are a representative republic. It always irks me when people say how great our "democracy" is. But life is really crazy when 1 guy with an axe to grind makes policy for an entire community (or larger).
