#1

Hello to all, is much that i do not write here, but I spent a really bad year...

a friend found digging a dogtag, Bernard L. Fosko 35735227.

He knows that it was the 34th Inf. Div. - 133th Inf. Regt. -! St Batl. - G Comp. General Order No. 27 09/01/1944 awarderd the Combat Infantry Badge.

He would be interested to contact any relatives still living.

Thank you very much for the help!

Dear Enrico: Just sent you a private message on FB, sorry to hear about your year. As they say, "When it rains, it pours", and I find this so true.

I will send this request to my friend at the 34th Infantry Division. Let's see what happens.

Heard back from Pat. Sorry, no good news...

Marion Chard:

Sorry, no match for your query nor a date of death for FOSKO:
- no match for family name FOSKO in the death or POW records of the 34th division
- no match for a serial number containing the string segment ...3573...
- no match for family name FOSKO in the American Battle Monuments Commission WW II records

- Generally the Infantry Regiments in WW II each had three Infantry Battalions: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
- The 2nd Infantry Battalions generally consisted of the "E", "F", and "G" Rifle Companies, and an "H" Heavy Weapons Company.

- The Infantry Regiment and each of its Infantry Battalions also has their own Headquarters Company.

- General Orders, each with their issue numbers, sequence, date, and subject might be issued at the battalion, regiment, and division level for their own needs.

FYI: the map location or place name where such an artifact is found would also help us to establish a possible 'story' for its history and date. Thanks, and keep digging.
