I am searching for information about my uncle. I have his Company E, 333rd Engineers photo dated July 4, 1942, and his headstone states he was a Sgt 333rd Engineers SS. It appears that he was in the 333rd fo the duration of his enlistment, but we are not sure. I have requested his military information but feel that it may have been destroyed in the 1973 fire. He and my father, Walter Lewis Christy, were in the same Company for a while, then dad transferred out. After that we can find nothing more on Uncle Jay's whereabouts or discharge. We have a photo of Uncle Jay that mother has always said was taken shortly after the liberation of Dachau. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi Connie:
We briefly touched base via email, but wanted to talk more here.
Hopefully you've had the chance to check out my research section, especially the part regarding obtaining his DD214's. The majority of people I run into, are still told that the only place they can obtain these records are at NARA in St Louis. I find it very sad, for so many people simply stop searching and give up, thinking that all the records were burned in the fire of 73.

Wouldn't it be wonderful is someone saw your post and could either 1) reunite you with your Uncle Jay, or 2) his immediate family?
If you can place the photos on the website, that would be extremely helpful.
Warmly,

Your Research Assistance section is very nicely done Marion. Do follow these guidelines Connie, you are liable to be rewarded. I located a copy of my grandfather's and my great-uncle's discharge papers at the court house. I am sure we would all like to see the photo you mentioned if your willing to share it with us. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your search!

Thanks Randy. I have re-written and revised several times over the years. I was asked to participate/write an article on the subject, just recently.
