There was a 38th at Normandy, but they were the 38th Engineer General Service Regiment.

 

The special brigades were the:

 

HHC, 1st Engineer Special Brigade

 

HHC, 5th Engineer Special Brigade

 

HHC, 6th Engineer Special Brigade

540th Engineer Combat Regiment, 2833rd Bn, H&S Co, 4th Platoon
