Thanks for posting that M! I love to read those letters. The first chapter in my book deals with these first days; being drafted, signing up, and their initial experiences about being away from home, etc. As you stated, for many of the men it was their FIRST time away from home. A lot of people nowadays don't realize this, because we are so used to travelling. Talk about being homesick.
