No Vee, you didn't do anything wrong as far as I was concerned. It was NOT intentional. You thought you were doing the right thing by posting a beautiful poem. I didn't think there was anything wrong at the time, or I would have said something.
This is the FIRST time in eight years, I have ever received a letter from anyone in the WWII community, informing me about copyright infringement. I honestly didn't know you did anything in wrong, for you gave credit to the author.
No, please keep doing what you are doing, for you are one of the only few REAL contributors to our forum, and I know you are appreciated by many, including me.
I would simply stay away from the site where you acquired the poem, just to be on the safe side. I think the letter could have left out the sentence regarding the fines by the French government. I don't think that was necessary, for it sounded threatening, even though at the end of the letter he states we can use it. Well to be honest, it made me feel very uncomfortable.
When I received the email, I didn't even know what he was referring to, for this is an OLD post, and there are thousands and thousands of posts on this site. I wrote back and said I would just delete the poem, but I needed to know the direct link.
Oh well, it's "water under the bridge" now, so let's just carry on.
Dear VEE, keep posting, please. Do not change the way you do things, or the way you are.
My only concern to all is this; just be careful in the future. We just need to keep our eyes open regarding copyright statements on websites, etc.
