No doubt that has been relegated to the "forgotten battles of World War II" file. Especially as the years go on and veterans pass away, there are less and less people who remember anything but the most famous battles, e.g. "D-Day" aka Operation Overlord (or Neptune if you want to get really accurate), Iwo Jima, Battle of the Bulge. It seems that even those are not as well remembered as they had been. I unfortunately think that soon D-Day will be representative of the entire war. This is a shame when one considers the amount of blood spilled from Casablanca to Wake to Sicily to the Po to Buna and to a hundred other places that our countrymen fought and died.

Hopefully, there will continue to be places like this, and people like our contributors (especially you M1!) to keep the memory alive. Our vets deserve much more.

Who said it? justayoungjarheadmajor said it!
