I'm afraid that I have to rectify your friend in one point.
From a friend of mine
Viele Grüße aus Much Germany

Also from further interesting are the following facts: in the Area of Much there was in the early spring a launching pad based for V2 from the flak regiment 155. To secure the rocket based bombs, there were many flak-units all over the area in the Ruhr. In April 1945 many of the flak-units remained in the Ruhr pocket and fought against the ground based infantry in direct support of the German Wehrmacht.
1 After Action Reports of the 97th Infantry Division and the 386th Infantry Regiment.
Near Much/Drabenderhöhe have been 4 launch facilities of the 1st company, 1st draft of Flak-Regiment 155(W), but V1. Flak was Luftwaffe (air force) in Germay and is still, V2 rockets were army. The 2nd battery was in Lohmar/Neunkirchen directly at street Siegburg-Schreck which is also mentioned here on the Ray Repasky memoirs page here, I was a tad surprised that they were not mentioned at all, but all these facilities and some others east of the Rhine have never been used because the ramps were not yet installed, only three of the 22nd battery near Eitorf shot some on Antwerpen in Belgium. The Flak-Regiment 155(W) had their last operations from the Netherlands and backed away to northern Germany. The story of the Regiment's commander Col. Max Wachtel (the (W) in the regiment's name) is quiet thrilling, he was the only german soldier who was allowed to wear all uniforms an muft, too, he appeared under different ranks and names, the british Secret Service was not able to find until 1946.
I scooped out one of the facilities until february this year and visited some others, there are still parts of foundations, platforms and cisterns in the woods of some of them, most of them destroyed by british forces or residents looking for concrete parts. I could post my documentation here if anyone is interested, but only in German and not before December when it will be published as print
To come back to the US: The V1 has been copied since 1944 and was used by US Army Air Forces, Air Force and Navy as JB-2 Loon and so a precurcor of Mace and Matador (which then came back to Germany).
