Attention veterans who fought - Tinian or Saipan

Hi, I'm trying to find out what I can on the unit that built the airfield on Saipan. My Dad was the commander of what I think was a seperate company that built those airstrips. I know at one time he told me the unit designation, but I've forgotton it over time. He passed away in 1991 and my brothers and sister are trying to find out more information. The unit landed on D+9 and didn't redploy untilo after the war was over. Any information would be appreciated. |
