Russ: Your account of the Rhine River crossing and connecting time frame is a great read. As I've stated before, you have a real way of conveying the circumstances to all of us. Your descriptions of the countryside, the men around you, the armored vehicles and smell and feel of battle are outstanding.
I have now read several accounts of the Rhine River crossing and your's fills in another niche of this brave adventure into the heart of Germany. Have you had a chance to read Red Ran the Rhine? The article was taken from one of my very favorite mags, WWII Magazine. It is worth a read.

I've heard many a GI declare that the 88's were one of the most dreaded things that they encountered during the war. I take it from your tale that you probably had that same dread that hit the pit of your stomach?
Please continue to share your war experiences. I take in every word and appreciate your time and efforts.
