101st veteran - Ted Vetland - woodcarver
#3

Papa sent this to me. It should be here:

---------------------

Ted Vetland

Another story Ted told was about him and Charley Hudson. Charley was in A

Company and got a Battlefield Commission in Normandy. He was transferred to

Easy Company and was portrayed in Band of Brothers. Anyway, Ted and Charley

were talking one day. Charley says "Vet someone should write a book about

our lives." Ted says "Charley you know I'm a talker, not a writer. Why don't

you write a book?" Charley says "That's not a bad idea, but the I would have

to go to New York and appear on all of these talk shows and sign autographs.

I probably wouldn't enjoy that." Ted goes, what if they make a movie about

our lives? Charley says that wouldn't be bad. Ted goes who would you want to

play you. Charley goes is Cary Grant still living? Who would play you? Ted

goes I'd pick Paul Newman and Charley says "He'd be good"

Bob Sink became a general after WWII and did you know Bill Kennedy went

through WWII and the Korean War and never fired a single shot in combat.
