From a new friend. I am hooking him up with other members.
The 2827th was the new designation in early '45 for one of the battalions of the 36th Combat Engineers. The regiment started off as the 36th with three battlions; the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In 1945 they became 2826th, 2827th and 2828th respectively.

My dad was in the 2827th Eng. Bn from 3-1-45 till at least August, 1945, and I think he was CO of Company C. I have a number of photos taken by him during those months. I can send you scans if you're interested, but need to know the best format, resolution, etc. you prefer. The photos include some of the 216 ft floating treadway bridge built at Liebi 27 April 1945.
I also have the Engineer situation reports from those months.
