I'm with you! I think the best chance of this (better WWII films) happening remains.... as long as our generation (Baby Boom) is making them, for it is most important to us that our Fathers be represented accurately in the war efforts.
I'm now pretty certain that I own the film you posted the link for (about Monte Cassino) by John Ford and the Signals crew. I will attempt to shake my brain out and remember which DVD it's on and loan it to you if you wish.
I may have it on a DVD too, so hold off until I do some searching too.
