Battery Todt
#1

I post my album of pictures I took in Calais. you'll see pictures of the Battery Todt .

The Battery Todt is just outside the village of Audinghen at Cap Gris Nez.Audinghen, to 26 km of Calais (62) This battery is made up of 4 principal casemates (called Turm…) Armed each with a 380 mm gun and inaugurated on February 10, 1942. The battery Todt (ex Siegfried)Hitler visited the site as well as Rommel and Goering.

etc…

During the war the bunker had a farmhouse and some trees painted on the side as camouflage.

The Battery was captured on September 29, 1944 with 10:30 by the 9th brigade of the 3rd division Canadian infantry.

I hope you enjoy the pictures , you can see them here:

Those things sure are impressive.

The Germans had a wide array of bunkers, fortifications, etc.

But why is this posted in the WWI section?
