I'm surprised I never saw this 1944 movie before, but it's a classic. It's a 4 hanky movie for the ladies and 2 for men (even if you think you're too tough). I watched it this morning on Turner Classic movies and was glad I was watching it alone. It was made really as a movie to boost the war effort as well as a movie about what happens to the family when men go off to war (I only said men because it was WWII, not today ) and messages about dealing with loss. There are some rather corny stereotypes, but I found it very moving overall. Stars: Claudette Colbert, Jennifer Jones,Shirley Temple, Joseph Cotton. 1944.
