Horace Norman Morton 163rd combat engineer WW2
#1

My grandfather, Red Morton, was in this group during World War Two. I have been to 163rd.com but I am looking for more detailed info. I know it's a long shot, but I'd love to meet someone who knew him as he refused to talk about the war. I am taking a trip to Europe this summer and would love to visit some of the places he went. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. (email removed for privacy - if you need to contact him, members please reply here or via PM)

I've attached the only pic I have of him in uniform

Thanks

Jake Collins

Well I hope I can help you. Gee, can I come to Europe with ya? Just kidding, though I'd really love to. It's my dream to walk in my father's footsteps.

Good to see ya hear.

Jake, I'm a longtime member of Marion's website from the UK and I have helped a number of people trace their relatives paths through this country leading up to the 4th June 1944 and beyond. You can contact me here if I can be of any help to you and if you visit here during your Europe tour, perhaps I can assist then as well.

Thanks! My wife and I will be in Europe the last two weeks of June. We plan on taking a day trip from Paris over to normandy so if anyone has any suggestions about that, I'd love to hear them. My understanding is that the 163rd was the third wave at Normandy, meaning he would have landed several days after D day. I'm hoping to find more info about his unit from our national archives here.
