My dad, Ernest Rose, served with Company E of the 347th Eng GS Reg in WWII. I would like to hear from anyone who may have been a member (God Bless you) or anyone whose father or grandfather may have served with the 347th.
A small group of sons and daughters of 347th members have collected a good bit of info and pictures around the activities of the 347th, and have also started a Facebook group called Army 347th Engineers, where we have shared much of the info and pictures. We do have names of most all of the H&S Co, E Co, and a few from A Co, and just a few from other companies.
Attached are some pictures related to the FDR Memorial railroad bridge, built across the Rhine Apr 4th thru Apr 13th, 1945... dedicated in memory of President Roosevelt, who had passed away April 12th.
The 347th was a major player in this construction.
So pleased to have you as a member. Love the photos and love the "hitch-hikers" nickname. That's great.
I look forward to talking with you about your father and the unit.

Thank you, Marion ! Just a couple days ago, the son of Col. Harry Hulen (Harry Hulen, Jr), contacted us and joined the Facebook group, so it should allow more info to be uncovered !

Marion is one of the most wonderful people that you will ever meet!!! You can not begin to imagine the connections and miracles that she has caused to occur!!!
I regret I am not on Facebook so I will not be able to see what you have there. I hope you will share some of it on this site.
Thanks, Jean. I just joined, but I have looked at this site SEVERAL times in the past, and I have seen where Marion, and others, have offered very good tips and info to many folks. I have read the "How-To's" that are available here, and they are very helpful to someone starting research. Like so any others, we have not found much info available in the gov't archives, so it has required beating the bushes for other people who had fathers or grandfathers who served in the 347th, AND who also have some info that is useful.
Once we get our postings all inputted into the Facebook site group, I will try to go ahead and replicate the story here. It is nice that pictures can be shared easily on these forums, as they really help with the story !
