Dear Marion How are you ??

I just finished to read the letters from Gilbert Stevenot to you (Steve)

I have been surprised to learn that he was working for the Nazis during the WW2

to the liberation of his village by American Troops

I have been schocked, knowing not exactly what kind of work he make for the

germans during four years, I canno't say nothing more about Steve, but I find

this story enough strange

I think send to you recently some accounts from years of war in Belgium

I have these stories in french, but I want translate all of them in English

The days of the liberation of th etown of Liège were amazing, with peoples

taking the G.I's as their guestsn hundreds or thoiusands of peoples dancing in the

streets all the day and night long, What a joy, happiness, and thankgiving to all

the young American , came from so far away for our liberty. Impossible to

forget these wonderful days

In 1994, for the 50th Anniversary for the landing at Normandy, the National

Arvhives and the Service Press of the U.S Army hav eedited two CD's, the first

about the landing at Normandy containig more than 600 photos, 2 Video's and others interesting accounts, the second was for the Battle of the Bulge with 750

pictures, 3 video's, 6 condensed books, interviews, maps etc

If you want them, I can send its to you, just for nothing, it will be a gift from me

I am sharing yet another letter from a new Belgium friend. My goodness if I ever get to visit the area (and I AM planning on it someday) I will have so many wonderful people to see.

Hello Marion,

Congratulations for your first year anniversary. You have some stories from my good friend John McAuliffe who fought in my home country, Luxembourg, as well as from others. You did a merveilleuse job there and i wish you good luck for the future and thanks to all those one who fought in my country to help to liberate it and gave us our liberty and democraty back.

I'm out of a resistance family in Luxembourg.

God bless you all

Josiane from Luxembourg

Well it looks as though we will all learn something by this encounter. Yes it is a real twist and something that wasn't all that uncommon during the war. I have read other accounts of men and women who were made to work for the Nazis during the occupation. Those with special skills like Steve, were grabbed up first and used for their abilities.

I am glad that he survived the entire ordeal and then in turn was able to help the Americans with those same skills. Who better to help the Allies having been an "insider"? Life is full of ironies isn't it?

Thank you for your kind offer regarding the CD's. I would absolutely love to have a set. It will be a valuable addition to my collection and will enable me to find out more about the Battle of the Bulge. Merci Beaucoup mon ami!

Welcome and I hope we get to hear all about your experiences during the occupation and of course, the liberation of your beautiful country.

Link sent to me by Stevenot Gilbert. This is all in French, so many/most of you will need to translate this.

I was finally able to find a website translator that worked this morning. For some reason, some that I normally use DID NOT like this page. Below you will see the English translation for all of you who might be interested. It is a PDF file.
