These two pictures are of my Grandfather (one wearing glasses and his eyes closed LOL) in France. He was with the 1132nd Combat Engineers and was at Camp Lucky Strike late 1944-45. Was wondering if anyone recognizes the men in the pictures with him? Any information on the men and the 1132nd Combat Engineers would be great
Hi all. I'm just getting started here. I'm working on a website that will eventually have about 180 photographs of bridges and other work carried out by the 145th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II in the European Theater. So far, I have about 90 photos, mostly of bridges built by the Battalion. I have also posted the Battalion's route across Europe, the unit history, and other information. Please stop by if you're interested, at https://145ecb.wordpress.com/. Leave a comment or information if you have any. Thanks!
TODAY- 10TH OF JULY 2018 - IS THE 75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE START OF OPERATION HUSKY. THE LANDINGS ON THE ISLAND OF SICILY WERE TO BECOME KNOWN AS "THE RETURN TO EUROPE" AFTER THE VICTORIES IN NORTH AFRICA. We will remember those members of the British and Commonwealth 8th Army, the United States 7th Army, and the Canadian 1st Division who gave their lives for us during the 37 day campaign!
