Using WWII veteran's names as logins on Facebook
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 12-09-2011, 10:00 AM - Forum: MARION'S NEWS n UPDATES n BABBLINGS... - No Replies

I just posted this on Facebook. For those of you who don't use Facebook, let me briefly explain how it works.

Well it's similar to a forum, and just like ours, you have to pick a username. Now that's I've explained that, you will understand what I am talking about.

I'm sorry but it really bothers me when people on FB take on the names our of WWII veterans. To me this is disgraceful. I understand many of you are honoring these men, but there are many others ways to do this. As the daughter of a WWII vet, I would not be pleased to see someone logging on as my father.

I've talked to others in my WWII circles and they agree with me, including other veterans. So I am putting out the call to put an end to this, please. Thanks for listening.

Cremated remains disposed of in dump!!!!
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 12-09-2011, 09:39 AM - Forum: Current Events - Replies (3)

This is outrageous. When someone sent me a note this morning, I said no way this is true, but looked it up on the internet and several sites including the big ones like NPR, are running this story.

December 8, 2011

An investigation by the Washington Post shows that remains of 274 service members were cremated and disposed of in a landfill by personnel at Dover Air Force Base. Steve Inskeep talks to the Post's Craig Whitlock, one of the reporters who uncovered the story.
