I now have the document, the person I'm interested in is Pfc Hoedel. The place is Lavant Downs, West Sussex and I have established that the US Army was encamped around this area near and in Goodwood in 1944. I have contacted Lavant Parish Council and although they did not know Lavant Downs there is a Lavant Downs housing estate, so it has been built on!
