Invited to participate in Fort Wayne Detroit event
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 09-21-2012, 07:48 AM - Forum: MARION'S NEWS n UPDATES n BABBLINGS... - Replies (5)

I was invited to participate in the following event on October 13th and 14th at Fort Wayne in Detroit. I will be attending as a WWII author, and will have copies of part one of documentary, No Bridge Too Far, for sale. They have also arranged to have several showings throughout the day on Saturday, the 13th. Thanks for the invite and for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

WWII authors and good friends, Don Burgett and George Koskimaki (101st Airborne fame), will also be in attendance. Always a pleasure seeing my friends and getting to spend some quality time with them.

The event takes place the weekend of October 13th and 14th, 2012

If you are in the area and thinking of attending, here's a map to historic Fort Wayne

This is a little late...

Sad to report that Tech. Sergeant Russell E. Dunham has passed away. He passed away on April 6, 2009 at the age of 89. He died of heart failure in his sleep.

He was a great soldier and American. May he rest in everlasting peace.

Regards,

MARNE

This is a little late...

Sad to report that Col.(then 2nd Lt.) Van T. Barfoot passed away after a fall which entered him into a coma. He passed away at the age of 92, on March 2, 2012.

Please put Col. Barfoot's family in your prayers. He was one of our "Greatest Generation."

  Farewell Charles P. Murray, Jr. - 30th Infantry Regiment(M.O.H.)

This is a little late but, I figured it was worth mentioning here for those who may not know...

Col.(then Capt.) Charles P. Murray, Jr. passed away August 12th, 2011 in Columbia, South Carolina of congestive heart failure. He was 89.

Col. Murray was a great man and a dear friend to the U.S. 3rd Division Living History Company here in Savannah. This fine gentlemen was a great patriot and proud and humble of the award he received for his actions during WWII.

I had the honor to meet Col. Murray in 2004 at the 85th Annual Reunion of the U.S. 3rd Infantry Division. He was just truly a wonderful man.

May his family be in your prayers...

Regards,

MARNE
