Posted by: Les Bradley - 09-09-2012, 11:00 AM - Forum: LOOKING FOR... - Replies (7)

Hi,

I am looking for information about A Company 347th Combat Engineering Regiment. I can't really find out anything about it or what they did. I know my grandfather was in it and he was at Normandy on D Day but that's about all I know. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

  39th Engineer 2012 Reunion
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 09-08-2012, 06:08 PM - Forum: VETERAN'S REUNIONS - No Replies

Good Afternoon Brothers,

Attached is the final newsletter before the Washington, D.C. reunion. It is our hope that some of you who haven't decided on whether to attend or not will be joining us; it will be a great time with old friends and rest assured you will make some new ones. The cutoff date for making your reservations at the $99.00 per night rate is fast approaching. There is no penalty for cancellation up to 6:00 P.M. on your date of arrival in case of emergency.

For you members that have made your reservations but have not sent in your registration form and monies please do so now, the cutoff date for registration to be turned in is October 8. Gale and I need the final few weeks for the final preparations making your reunion a pleasant one. Inside you will find the registration form along with the itinerary and you will note that we have extended the Quantico trip to 2 days (Friday & Saturday) for members arriving mid-day or later on Friday. For you that are interested in participating in the "Reading of Names" we still have a small time frame to get you submitted so please contact Jerry Bright this coming week.

Jerry's e-mail is jbrightone@comcast.net.

Have a great weekend and we are looking forward to seeing you this coming November.

BROTHERS THEN, BROTHERS NOW, BROTHERS FOREVER

Jack and Joe are mentioned in this 1940's song
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 09-07-2012, 05:02 PM - Forum: Great Tunes from WWII - Replies (3)

Received this request today from Jerry and Linda. Does anyone recognize this tune?

I have been trying to locate the words and music for a song about two men who crossed the ocean together during the war. Their names were Jack and Joe and it tells of the struggles they have during the war and when one is mortally wounded he ask the other to deliver his sweetheart “Nell” the sad news. My mom cannot remember the name or all of the words but I would like to get it and have some of the musically gifted of the family sing it to her. My dad did not serve in the war but worked at a local airbase during the war.
